Which class do I need?

The right class depends on your goal and, for Colorado Firearms Safety Program courses, whether you have verified hunter education. Use this guide as a starting point, then review the complete listing before registering.

Colorado Firearms Safety Program

I need training for an affected semiautomatic firearm purchase or transfer

These courses are part of Colorado's Firearms Safety Program under SB25-003. A valid Firearms Safety Course Eligibility Card is required before enrolling.

I have hunter education verified by Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Choose the Basic 4-hour course. The combination of verified hunter education and the Basic course meets the program's training path.

I do not have verified hunter education

Choose the Extended 12-hour course. It is completed in person over at least two different days.

Concealed carry training

I want concealed carry and personal-protection instruction

Choose one of the traditional CCW/CHP classes if your goal is concealed carry education rather than the separate Firearms Safety Program purchase requirement.

I want a focused class

Choose the CCW 4-hour course. This is the shorter option covering the essential course topics.

I want more time and depth

Choose the CCW 8-hour course. The extended format allows more time for instruction and discussion.

FSP and CCW are separate programs

Colorado Parks and Wildlife states that concealed carry courses do not substitute for the Firearms Safety Program requirements. If your goal involves purchasing or transferring a specified semiautomatic firearm, use the FSP path above.
